Meet the Creator

John Hambrock

John Hambrock didn't grow up wanting to be a cartoonist. In fact,it was marine biology that captured his attention during his early years. Though studying the sciences was one of his strong interests, it was the arts that eventually won him over.

John received his art training at the prestigious Ringling College of Art and Design, majoring in graphic design. He later spent ten years as one of three creative directors for a Chicago Design Firm. It was while working on the firm's Keebler account that he was introduced to the Keebler Elves. Drawing Ernie the Elf opened his eyes to the passion of cartooning, a passion that, combined with a love of science, a keen interest in politics, and a flair for writing, ultimately led to the creation of The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee.
